This is the first exhibition I have ever been in/ helped set up with a small group of people.

I completed my exhibition by asking an art group called Circuit Cambridge, who are based at Wysing Arts Centre and Kettles Yard to help. For the workshops we had an artist come in to help us with the ideas and then for the exhibition we were going to be part of a large group exhibition called Glitch Art with other young art groups from the art centres and Firstsite gallery in Colchester.

I helped with all the setting up of the workshops and then being involved in making the work. I also helped with the setting up at the beginning  of the show for all the groups and then created and lead on setting up for our group. One example of the work I needed to do was with the way we laid out the artwork as  it was really dark, so I came up with the idea of putting the lights under the artwork and then went and found some lights from the venue.

The theme of the exhibition was digital work, that is why every piece of artwork has some kind of edited image involved in it. On the day their was a range of different workshops for people to do and  later, their was a band performing.

I'm happy that I was able to be a main lead in the exhibition because I have never done anything like that before.

This video shows everything that was at the event. It was held at the Cambridge junction. The video shows an explanation of the idea of 'Glitch Art', all the areas from the event, explaining the workshops and music, it also shows people's opinion of the workshops and what they thought of the whole event. It also gives a brief explanation of the group who organised the event, Circuit.

This video shows a bit of an interview where I was asked about our part of the exhibition. In this interview I explain why I like a piece of Kyle Warwick's artwork. I also explained about the exhibition as a whole and talked about how and why every bit of artwork was made, but unfortunately this wasn't used.

A group of talented young artists from Girton are exhibiting their work at Cambridge Artworks Gallery as part of the Circuit Cambridge project.

Beyond the Brick is a group exhibition including work by Kyle Warwick, Jamie O’Brien, Kienan Naylor and Kieran O’Brien.

The group, whose practices range from photography to screen printing and tattoo art, are aged between 16 and 24. As members of the Girton Youth Project, they have spent the past four months preparing for the Beyond The Brick exhibition. The group describe the main body of work as ‘urban art’ – art inspired by street youth culture and created using screen printing, painting, graffiti, tattooing, video and photography.

The young artists have not taken the usual educational route into their creative practices. Instead they have found inspiration from the rest of the world, their connection being through street art, urban art, culture and graffiti.

The artists:  Kyle Warwick, Jamie O’Brien, Kienan Naylor and Kieran O’Brien. The project is curated by artist and former Circuit Cambridge member, Jack Cornell.

Circuit Cambridge is the young people’s programme at Wysing Arts Centre & Kettle’s Yard.

Curated by guest artists Jack Cornell and Time Shuker-Yates, BEYOND THE BRICK will run from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 May with the Private View and BBQ on Friday 26 May from 6 – 9pm and Exhibition open from 10am – 4pm over the weekend.
This exciting exhibition includes work by Kyle Warwick, Jamie O’Brien, Kienan Naylor and Kieran O’Brien. This group of talented young artists from Girton are part of an art project linked to London’s Tate Gallery. Circuit is a four year national programme connecting 15-25 year olds to arts in galleries and museums working in partnership with the youth and cultural sector. Led by the Tate and funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, it provides opportunities for young people to steer their own learning and create cultural activity across art disciplines.

With jobs ranging from photographer, screen printer and tattooist, these artists are aged between 16-24 and are all members of Girton Young Project (GYP)

This is the first ‘white cube’ exhibition for the Circuit Cambridge Group which is connected to Wysing Arts Centre and Kettle’s Yard.
